Rhymes, Whimsy, & Wonder
Oh, the things you can learn! In this unit study, children explore science, history, and art through 17 beloved books by Dr. Seuss. Each week begins with a read-aloud that sparks a big question, and young learners answer it with hands-on investigations: making rain clouds in a jar, turning egg whites green with cabbage juice, building string telephones, mixing oobleck, and making a compass. Along the way, they learn about Ted Geisel’s life, Florida’s springs and wildlife, the history of reading, and the people who invented the telescope, the stethoscope, and the calendar. They bring each week to life with whimsical art projects inspired by real masterpieces.
