Students planning for competitive college admission should include additional world language, honors, AP, or dual credit coursework. SSA recognizes academic distinction through honors diploma designations for qualifying graduates. We also offer both a modified high school diploma and a secondary education completion for unique ability students.
SSA reviews each student's prior academic record before finalizing grade placement and transfer credits. Students transferring with low grades, failed courses, etc. will be required to use SSA’s approved online curriculum option instead of the parent-directed option. This provides a structured, documented academic recovery plan and a clear path toward graduation through SSA. Students placed in an academic recovery plan must remain enrolled with SSA through graduation. This option is not intended for students seeking temporary enrollment, short-term grade repair, or completion of selected courses before transferring to another school.
Families may select their own curriculum and complete SSA’s required course planning, attendance, grading, and semester reporting, or purchase access to one of SSA’s online curriculum programs. Families using an SSA online curriculum do not need to submit a separate course plan, maintain or report attendance, submit parent-assigned grades, or complete SSA’s semester reporting forms. SSA uses the curriculum provider’s records to prepare semester report cards and maintain the student’s academic record. Parents remain responsible for providing daily educational supervision, monitoring progress, and ensuring coursework is completed.

Expanded Courses +$100

Edmentum Courseware is a dynamic, fully accredited, comprehensive digital curriculum that is officially approved by the Florida Department of Education.
The course catalog comprises more than 500 courses, including core subjects, courses for use with Advanced Placement® exams, career and technical education (CTE) offerings, electives, world languages, and ELL Foundations courses. Instruction is interactive and media rich to inspire self-directed, active investigation and focus on efficiency. Students only invest time on not-yet-mastered content. Along the way, learners receive explicit instruction, deliberate practice, and ongoing scaffolding using metacognitive strategies to engage them in ongoing reflection, minimizing passive reception and increasing long-term understanding. Expanded course options are available for an additional fee. SSA’s curriculum options are parent-directed, with the parent serving as the student’s primary teacher.
