STUDENT ACCOMMODATIONS/MODIFICATIONS POLICIES

Eligibility

Any student with a disability who has been evaluated and determined to have a disability by a medical professional may have accommodations. Documentation to support the need for accommodations/modifications, in addition to the Student Education Plan (SEP), should be submitted to SSA and kept on file. The student’s needs for accommodations are documented in SSA’s SEP. It is the parents/teacher’s responsibility, not SSA’s, to provide any and all accommodations and modifications. As a private school, SSA does not provide accommodations/modifications but does approve them and maintains a continuing record of accommodations/modifications provided for students.

Eligible students are identified by one or more disability. These may include, but are not limited to:

•           Specific Learning Disability

•           Intellectual Disability

•           Emotional/Behavioral Disability

•           Deaf or Hard of Hearing

•           Visual Impairment

•           Dual Sensory Impairment

•           Orthopedic Impairment

•           Other Health Impairment

•           Traumatic Brain Injury

•           Speech Impairment

•           Language Impairment

•           Autism Spectrum Disorder

•           Developmental Delay, Ages 3-5 Years

ACCOMMODATIONS/MODIFICATIONS

The document below is a quick reference guide with examples of the effects of a disability and related accommodations. It is not a comprehensive list of all possible effects of a disability and accommodations. A student may require unique and novel accommodations to learn and demonstrate performance. A student may use accommodations not included in this guide as long s it is determined that the student needs them. The value of any accommodation is ultimately measured in terms of its impact on the performance of the student. To receive accommodations or modifications complete page 3 and send it along with documentation to support the need for accommodations/modifications to SSA via email sunshineacademyk12@gmail.com.
